Mr. Simons characterized the "Swap Party" is in the spirit of the Golden Rule, instead of a "White Elephant Affair". Each member is to bring to the affair a painting, drawing or print which he treasures but cannot hang, members will be given "pretend" money with which to make their bids, and the party will be run off as an auction. The "Swap Party" was held at the offices of the President of the Society for American Art, Mr. Earle Ludgin.
