The Society for Contemporary American Art's Annual Meeting and Acquisition Vote was held on the opening night of the Society's 3rd Annual Exhibition which featured 19 works of painting or sculpture by American artists like Milton Avery's Interior, Julian Levi's Wellfleet Harbor, Leon Garland's Gill's Rock, David Bekker's The Cabalist, Charles West, Jr.'s The Narrows, and Julian Binford's Man with Scythe-Sharpener. The artworks included in this exhibition were selected by members of the Society, which in turn, vote to select the which will be the gift of the Society to The Art Institute of Chicago. It is the purpose of the Society to provide an interesting program throughout the year, but primarily, to provide The Art Institute, through the means of our exhibition, with one work of painting or sculpture by an American artist. This year, Wellfleet Harbor by Julian Levi was selected as the gift of the Society.
