The 25th Annual Exhibition of the Society for Contemporary American Art featured 84 works of painting or sculpture by American artists like Don Judd, Maryan, Philip Pearlstein, and Stanley Tigerman. The artworks included in this exhibition were selected by members of the Society, which in turn, vote to select the which will be the gift of the Society to The Art Institute of Chicago. It is the purpose of the Society to provide an interesting program throughout the year, but primarily, to provide The Art Institute, through the means of our exhibition, with one work of painting or sculpture by an American artist. This year, Personnage by Maryan S. Maryan was selected as the gift of the Society to The Art Institute of Chicago.
